EMZ 1.31
Feb 10, 2007
We are delighted to announce the public release of the latest version of EMZ. It
has been a long time in the making and has had a much longer beta period than
anticipated, but it's finally here. We'd like to thank everyone that played the
beta releases and gave us feedback and suggestions.
This version requires the new Doom 3 1.3.1 Patch release.
New in 1.31
-
Redesigned menu system. Anything that a player can customize with EMZ can now
be found in the menus.
-
Picture-in-picture and side-by-side modes when watching Tourney matches.
-
"Ragdoll" deaths. Instead of switching the player's model to a skeleton the
instant they die this option allows you to see the full effect of the death
animations.
-
User configurable HUD layouts. Choose from predefined layouts or create and
save your own using the HUD config screen. Includes icons and timers for all
powerups.
-
Dynamic scoreboard which resizes depending on the number of players in the
server. You can choose small or large text and adjust the transparency of the
scoreboard.
-
Player accuracy stats are now shown on a seperate screen by using shift-TAB.
-
Players can hide their rank and wins/games stats on the scoreboard.
-
Selectable skin pack for map items.
-
Simple Lighting mode. If Doom 3's dynamic lighting system is giving your rig
problem, try this setting for an FPS boost.
-
New chat entry window with scrollable history.
-
Screen to bind keys to chat messages; easier than writing CFG scripts.
-
Additional hitsounds for enemy hits.
-
New in-game server browser. Find other servers without leaving the one you're
playing.
-
Tourney Results page shows the most recent games played on the server.
-
Player Rankings page displays a list of which players have the best wins/games
ratio. The ratios are weighted down if you have played less than 100 games so
that you can't just join, play and win one game and have 100%.
-
Per-weapon mouse sensitivity, field of view and crosshair settings.
-
Additional "bright" crosshair.
-
Seperate spectate mode field of view setting.
-
Match results can now be recorded by the server in an XML format for converting
to HTML, loading into a database or whatever else is required. Servers can also
send the results XML to each player where it is written to a file as a record
of the match.
-
In-game player control. Admins can now use an in-game screen to perform player
control tasks such as bans, clan membership and muting.
-
Built-in anti-cheat measures to detect the most common types of cheats used by
Doom hackers. Server admins can see instantly who is a "suspect" and decide
whether an ban is appropriate. This does not require PunkBuster to be insalled.
-
Admins can leave messages for players to pick up when they rejoin. Useful for
issuing warnings before a ban ;)
-
Admins can specify that one additional slot be reserved on the server to allow
them to join even when it already has si_maxPlayers connections.
-
When a server goes idle there is the option to run idle.cfg to revert it to a
standard configuration.
-
Clan members can be given priority over public players when waiting in line for
a place in Tourney.
-
Custom config voting. Servers can have custom CFG scripts installed for
specific gameplay setups which players can then vote on.
-
New standard map loading screen and Clans can create their own custom PK4 files
to give their server an individual look while maps load.
-
Inclusion of Universal Binary for Mac OS X
Improved in 1.31
-
Two additional player models: bones and horns.
-
Additional "glow" skin set for when you really
don't want to hide.
-
Grouped voting. Related settings can be voted on together instead of
seperately. e.g. Frag Limit and Time Limit
-
Scoreboard can now be displayed even when the chat window is open.
-
Impact smoke. Since the Doom 3 1.1 patch release the impact smoke from the
pistol, machinegun and chaingun has been missing. Now it's back, with a bright
smoke option to really help you train that aim.
-
Shotgun is now a hitscan weapon, which eliminates the burst of data that the
server used to send to all the players.
-
Plasma projectiles have much lower bandwidth requirements, so those firefights
are much less laggy.
-
The footer text on the "message of the day" window can now be set by the server
admin. It will alternate between the admin's choice and the EMZ site details.
-
Imrovements to "lost my turn" and "only one player" problems in Tourney.
Perhaps not 100% fixed, but a whole lot better ;)
-
Changed player statistics netcode to only send when they are being displayed
rather than in every frame for each player.
-
Netcode improvements to reduce the lag effect when entering a map area for the
first time.
-
Autodownload is easier to manage. Instead of listing all PK4 files in
net_serverDlTable you can simply set it to "*" - just make sure you
remember to upload all the files to the download host.
-
Removed console warnings caused by previous verions.
-
Player data saved on server always creates a backup file in case of corruption
during save. Players who have no match history or have not played for a period
of time can be purged.
-
Player data file is smaller.
